County dodges severe damage from Delta

Hurricane Delta made landfall as a Category 2 storm about a dozen miles east of where Hurricane Laura struck a few weeks earlier.
Delta came ashore with 100 mph winds Friday evening at Creole, La., not far from Cameron, where the center of Laura had crossed inland earlier.
The effects of Delta were more visible to this area of Southwest Mississippi when compared to Laura. Some downed trees and downed power lines were responsible for some power outages. Both MEP and Entergy crews were out repairing damage.
Overall, the MEP system reported 18,000 outages. Except for a few glitches, the Walthall area fared the storm well. Mostly high wind gusts and rain were the effects of Delta.
