RV park proposes discharge wastewater into Bogue Chitto
A popular RV park in Walthall County has applied for a permit with the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality to discharge just over 70,000 gallons of treated wastewater daily into the Bogue Chitto River.
Paradise Ranch RV Resort, 660 Hwy. 48 West, proposes to discharge the treated domestic wastewater into a ditch which will empty into the river, according to a legal notice published Nov. 12 in the Enterprise-Journal.
The public has 30 days to request a public hearing on the proposal.
The permit board is seeking information pertaining to the proposed activity including comments from the public in order for its final recommendation to comply but is subject to change based on information received from the public.
According to the permit board, the draft permit has been developed based on information submitted to it by the applicant, appropriate state and federal agencies and other interested parties.
The permit board is limited only to environmental impact.
