Marvin “PA” Carson, 79, of Tylertown, died Jan. 3, 2021, at Singing River Hospital in Ocean Springs.
Born Jan. 15, 1941, in Carthage, he was the son of the late Lamar Carson and Ruth Ward Carson. He received his formal education from Madison County public school system. At an early age he professed his faith in Jesus Christ at Greenwood Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Carthage. In 1967, Carson moved to Milwaukee, WI, and obtained employment at International Harvest in Waukesha, WI.
Carson was married to Mary Francis Holmes on March 9, 1985, in Milwaukee and they had three children. In 2001, they moved to Tylertown. Carson had a passion for gardening and farming, telling funny jokes and traveling with his wife.
Survivors are his wife Mary Carson; one daughter, Tameka Holmes-Jackson (Calvin), of Milwaukee, WI; two sons, Marvin Holmes and Hosea Carson, of Milwaukee, WI; four sisters, Nina (Herman) Griffin of Carthage, Walterine (Clarence) Broom of Calumet City, IL, Alcola (Johnnie) Harris of Chicago, Sara (Stan) McKinney of Kosciusko; sister-in-law, Hattie Johnson of Tylertown; brother-in-law, Earnest (Betty) Holmes of Tylertown; 14 grandchildren; five great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Shaquan Exum; three brothers, James Curtis Carson, Carl Lee Carson and Ervin Carson.
A graveside service was Jan. 9, 2021, at Pleasant Valley COGIC Cemetery in Tylertown, with pastor Charley Jones, Jr., rendering the eulogy and officiating.
Pallbearers were Reynard Jenkins, Tony Carson, Christopher Carson and Ervin Carson.
Washington Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
