Two men face murder charges after Thursday shooting
Two McComb men are charged with first degree murder in the death of a Walthall man last Thursday.
Sheriff Kyle Breland said Den’Javis Warren was pronounced dead following a shooting on Hwy 27 South Thursday afternoon. He said deputies responding to a 911 call about 3:19 p.m. found Warren dead.
Breland said an ongoing investigation resulted in the arrest of two Pike County men, DaJohn Morgan and DeMarcus Smith. Both have been arrested and charged with first degree murder. They await an initial hearing in Walthall Justice Court.
“We appreciate the quick response of deputies and investigators of the Walthall Sheriff’s Dept. and the teamwork of all agencies involved which led to the arrest of the two suspects including the Pike County Sheriff’s Dept., Tylertown Police, Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office, Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, Mississippi Highway Patrol and the Walthall Coroner and District Attorney’s Office,” Breland said.
Additional details surrounding the shooting are not available as the investigation is ongoing, the sheriff told The Times.
“Anyone with information involving this, or any other crime, call the Walthall Sheriff’s Office at 601-876-3481,” Breland said.
