COVID affecting athletic events

Not long after Salem Attendance Center announced virtual classes due to COVID cases at the school, Salem Coach Chris McCallum said the school’s athletic events have been affected as well.
McCallum said the Wildcats’ first football game of the season, set for Friday, Aug. 27 with St. Andrews has been cancelled. For the present, that is the only football game cancelled at this time, but McCallum said as the virus plays out, not only at Salem, but at other schools, other cancellations may become necessary.
In addition to the first football game, McCallum announced that the first two junior high football games on the Wildcats’ schedule have been cancelled and the school’s volleyball games have been shut down for two weeks.
