Funeral services for Melvin Berlet Holiday Jr., 74, of Tylertown, was held at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home Aug. 25, 2021, with Rev. Jim Ennis and Rev. Lonnie Case officiating, interment at New Zion Cemetery.
Holiday died Aug. 22, 2021. He was born Sept. 14, 1946, in Franklinton, to the late Lillie and Melvin Holiday Sr.. Along with his parents he is also preceded in death by his brother Michael Holiday.
He was a member of Knoxo Baptist Church. Holiday served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed farming, gardening, working on tractors, and watching westerns and eating ice cream. He never wanted to go on vacation but if you ever mentioned taking a cruise he was all in. Holiday was a very generous person always making extra in the garden to give away if anyone was in need or want. He looked after his family and community.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years Sherrie Holiday; children Leigh (Brian) Daigle and Scott Holiday; grandchildren Tyler Holiday and Kylie Daigle; sisters Elizabeth Whittington, Brenda Sue Blades, Becky McDaniel, and Bennie Rushing.
Pallbearers were Brian Daigle, Tyler Holiday, Chris Mitchell, Paul Templet, and Mike Laird .
