Roy Lee Cooley, 60, of Sandy Hook, died Dec. 22, 2021, in Varnado. He was born Jan. 31, 1960, in Sandy Hook to W.C. and Estelle Cooley.
He attended Dexter High School in Tylertown where he was a number one football player. Cooley served in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed many hobbies such as cooking under his tree for the neighborhood, working on cars, cruising around and his favorite was racing cars.
He accepted Christ at an early age at 2nd Mt. Bethel MBC in Sandy Hook. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Emma Ratcliff and brother, J.C. Colley.
Survivors are his wife, Charlene Cooley; five sons, Desmond (Selena) Weary, Darren Weary, Bradley Weary, D’Jyrion Cooley and Nicholas Crumedy; two sisters, Essie Pittman and Ella Pittman; four brothers, Robert (Dorothy) Cooley, Jessie Lee (Jackie) Cooley, Mark Cooley and Paul (Malet) Cooley; nine grandchildren, Braylen, Ka’Den, Desmond Jr., Destinee, Jason, Kimiria, D’Kelya, Tanylah and Zendaya.
Services were Dec. 31, 2021, at 2nd Mt. Bethel MBC, in Sandy Hook, interment in the church cemetery, Rev. Curtis Keys officiating.
