Niktey Barnes, 59, of Tylertown, died April 23, 2022 at Southwest Medical Center in McComb. Mrs. Barnes was born Oct. 26, 1962 in New Orleans to the late Geneva Harrison and Calvin Brown.
She met Vernon Bernard Barnes in 1983 and they married July 24, 1998 and together raised three children.
She was a member of Pinegrove Baptist Church in New Orleans. The day before Hurricane Katrina she moved to Tylertown and later joined St. Chapel MBC where she served on the usher board.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Ernest Harrison; one brother, Cleveland Hill; grandparents, George (Gladys) Lovett, Peter (Julia) Brown.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon Bernard Barnes; two daughters, Niktey and Edrena Barnes; one bonus daughter, Brittney Day Smith; five grandchildren, Rokita (Darien) Rickson, Harmonni Swington, Shykita, Na’Te and Kyron Barnes; two great grandchildren, Darien Jr. and Raelynn Rickson; four sister, Johnnie Mae Syvle, Gail Johnson (Craig), Janice Henry (Clarence) and Angela Patterson (Christopher); two brothers, Calvin and James Hill.
Funeral services were May 7, 2022, at St. Chapel MB Church in Tylertown, Rev. Douglas Hart officiatingwith interment in the St. Chapel cemetery.
