Overdose Awareness Day to be observed Aug. 31
International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) is a global event held Aug. 31 each year to remember those gone too soon from overdose deaths
Southwest Mississippi Mental Health Complex is observing Overdose Awareness Day, Wednesday, Aug. 31, with a Candlelight Vigil from 5-6:30 pm. at its office at 219 Ball Avenue, according to a Times advertisement this week.
According to data released by the Centers for Disease Control, of the more than 107,600 drug overdose deaths in 2021, three-quarters were attributed to opioids.
During 2020 there were more unintentional overdose deaths in the workplace than in any other years since data collection began in 2011.
