Gloria Jean Gordon, 77, of New Orleans, a native of Tylertown, died May 10, 2023, at East Jefferson Hospital in Metairie. She was born Jan. 18, 1946, in Tylertown, to the late Fletcher Quinn and Jeanette Smith Quinn.
After graduating from J.J. Gulledge Memorial High School in 1965, she attended Delgado Community College, Tulane University and successfully graduated at Southern University of New Orleans on Dec. 13, 1993 with a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education.
She was an educator for the Orleans Parish School Board for 25 years while simultaneously serving as a liaison and finally a teacher. She retired in 2000.
She enjoyed listening to gospel music on Youtube as well as watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Venus and Serena Williams were her favorite tennis players.
She was a member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church in New Orleans where she served as an usher.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Bertha Lee Trotter, Daisy Smith, Brenda Ratcliff, Erma Dean Quinn and Bobbie Jean Walker; brothers, Meryl Quinn and James DeWitt Quinn.
Survivors are her husband Morris Henry Gordon; four children, Patrick Anthony Gordon Sr. (Leslie) in Richmond, VA, Christopher Gordon in Westwego, LA, Erica Alicia Dillon (Robert) in Frisco, TX, and Dione Katrina Gordon in Lewisville, TX; grandchildren, Patrick Gordon Jr., Ja Vaughn Gordon, Nikki Gordon, Henry Gordon, Aaron Turner, Ashley Turner, Jeanette Turner, Ariel Dillon, Laila Dillon and Jaila Dillon.
Funeral services were May 27, 2023, at West Sunny Hill MBC in Tylertown, Rev. Marjorie Walker officiating with interment in West Sunny Hill MBC Church Cemetery.
