Thelma “Tee” Holliday Bergeron died Dec. 4, 2023. She was born in Tylertown Feb. 10, 1935.
She grew up in Lexie on a farm working alongside her parents, siblings and others. She graduated from Lexie High School and was anxious to see more of the world. Almost immediately she moved to the Bogalusa area.
She then moved to New Orleans, got a job with the phone company and began exploring the city. She was introduced to Bill Bergeron and the couple soon married. Her husband joined the Marine Corps and they started a family and began military life and seeing the country and the world.
Mrs. Bergeron worked at a bank in McAlester, OK. When they moved to Mandeville, LA when they were close to retiring from the Marine Corps, she began working at Citizens Bank in Covington, where she worked for about 30 years.
She was always laughing, joking, smiling, and loved making others laugh. Even after raising her own kids, she was involved in grandkids’ lives and even the great-grandkids’ lives – taking them all to soccer, football, basketball, cheerleading.
She is survived by her husband, Major Joseph William “Bill” Bergeron, Sr, USMC RET., her children, Jeanne Bergeron, Lawerence William “Bill” Bergeron (Sharon), Michael Bergeron of Kansas, Lisa Bergeron, of Virginia, her stepchildren, Joseph W. “Joey” Bergeron, Jr. (Nora), of Gulfport, and Cindy Bergeron (John) of Ponchatoula, LA; grandchildren, great-granddaughters, and one great great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ada Gertrude Dillon Holliday and Lawrence James Holliday; and by her sister, Rosa Faye Holliday Martin, and her brothers Ray Holliday and Burl Holliday.
