Jerry Mixon, 91, of Tylertown, died Jan. 16, 2024, at her residence. She was born Dec. 24, 1932, in Bossier City, LA.
A memorial service will be conducted in her home Feb. 3, 2024 at 2 pm.
She was a member at First Christian Church in McComb.
She was a nurse for several years, but is best known as a mom and Nanny to her family and most anyone who met her. She exhibited a genuine concern for others and rarely thought of herself. She loved God’s creation and really enjoyed watching the birds from her window.
She is preceded in death by her parents, George Andrew Jackson and Viola Brown Jackson; sister, Beverly Fallin; her husband, George Mixon; daughter, Rebecca Harper; grandson, Travis Harper; one great granddaughter, Luna Lapeyrouse.
Survivors include her brother, G.A. Jackson (Iris) of Shreveport, LA; four daughters: Jere Sue Rayburn (Doug) of Jayess, Pamela Harper of Montegut, LA, Jamie Henry (Norman) of Theriot, LA, and Sandie Harper of McComb; 10 grandchildren: Chris Rayburn, Troy Rayburn, Miss Thornhill, Ginger Watson, Spencer Harper, Abby Todd, Cassie Bean, Logan Lapeyrouse, Chad Johnson, Jacob Harper; 22 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; three special cousins: Jan Hawkins Wishum, Gwen Arendell and Deana Weaver.
The family would also like to acknowledge special caregivers: Enhabit nurse, Laura LaGrone, RN, Malanie Cefalu, Michelle Knox and Gayle Etheridge.
