Walters Lee Sellers Sr., 91, of Katy, TX, died Jan. 25, 2024. He was born April 1, 1932, in Walthall County to the late George and Martina Sellers.
He married Ada Foxworth Aug. 16, 1952, and they had three children. They moved to Portland, OR, where they lived for 54 years. He worked at The Imperial Hotel, Oregon Steel Mill and Chevron where he retired after 22 years.
While working at The Imperial Hotel he began studying the Bible. He was baptized as a Jehovah Witness Feb. 11, 1963. He went on to become a ministerial servant, regular pioneer, congregation elder and was the presiding overseer at the Irvington Congregation in Portland, OR. He also served as a congregation elder for the Kath North Congregation after moving to Katy, TX.
Sellers enjoyed cooking, traveling and socializing. He was best known for his rhymes.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Ada Sellers; his siblings, Major, Dessa, Annie, Estelle, Bessie and Baxter; his daughter-in-law, Barbara Sellers.
Survivors are his three children, Walter Sellers Jr., Debra Sellers and Diane Sellers; one grandchild, Nioca Stokes (Jonathan), and one step grandchild, June Powell (William); two great grandchildren, Taylor and Ryan Stokes; two step-great grandchildren, Shantell Boxley and Brianna Powell.; one step great great grandchild Londyn Powell.
Funeral services were Feb. 17, 2024, at Craft-Dillon-Ginn Funeral Chapel, Walter L. Sellers, Jr. officiating, interment in New Damascus Church Cemetery, Kokomo.
