Tylertown advances in 3A State hoops playoffs with 58-44 win at Noxubee County

The Tylertown Chiefs put together a strong second half last Saturday night for a 58-44 road win in the 3A South State playoffs at Noxubee County High.
The Chiefs, 19-3, advanced to play Port Gibson in a third round game Friday night (Feb. 23) at 7 p.m., at Holmes Community College.
Coach Jeremy Harrell’s Chiefs trailed Noxubee County 9-7 at the end of the first quarter, but pulled ahead with a slight lead, 21-19 at halftime. The Chiefs stretched the lead to 41-35 at the end of the third quarter and never trailed again.
Jamal Martin led Tylertown with 16 points. Ken Gatlin pumped in 11 and Daron Walker had 9.
Noxubee County finished the season 15-11. The Tigers were led by senior Omari Glenn who had 14 points.
