Rosa Alyne Jackson, 83 of Tylertown, died Aug. 4, 2024, at Forrest General Hospital. She was born March 10, 1941 in Lexie to the late O.C. and Ora Nell Lee Holiday. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Clinton Ray Jackson; brothers Olin Holiday and Ben Holiday.
Funeral services were Aug. 8, 2024, at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home, with Bro. Jim Ennis officiating, interment at Rushing Cemetery.
She graduated from Lexie where she then went to Southwest Community College and finished getting her education with a bachelor’s degree from USM. She spent 28 ½ years teaching Business and English in Mississippi. She enjoyed her job and teaching her students and telling them stories as she often would when she had a chance. She was a member of Tylertown Baptist Church where she served as her children were growing up. In her later years she went to Knoxo Baptist Church.
Mrs. Jackson enjoyed reading, crocheting and making crafts, listening to gospel music, cooking and working on crossword puzzles, and watching her granddaughters ride horses. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing sports including being part of the church softball league.
Survivors include her son Chess Jackson (Lani); daughter Brandi Jackson; granddaughters Emmie Raye Jackson and Darlie Lee Jackson.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Thomas, Kenny Moore, Benjamin Thomas, Mike Laird, Jace Laird and Jeremy Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers were Aubrey King, George Swan, Jerry Kelly, Doug King, Russell King, Mike King, Dr. Roger Lott, Ronald Lott, Bruce Lott and Bryan Lott.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Rushing Cemetery Committee, 320 Smithburg, Road, Osyka, MS 39657.
Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
