Adopt-a-Family apps due Halloween day

The application period for needy families to qualify for Walthall’s Adopt-a-Family Christmas program begins Oct. 1 and concludes on Halloween day, Thursday, Oct. 31.
Tesa Payne, who tracks the applications for Adopt a Family said the applications will again be available at the circuit clerk’s office, thanks to Dan Hawn.
“Please remember his office is just a pickup point and return applications.If you have any questions you can text 601-551-8338, or post them on our Facebook page,” Payne said.
To be eligible for Adopt-a-Family you must be a resident of Walthall County, income must be reported and be within the U.S. Federal poverty guidelines, according to Lori Swanner, a spokesman for Walthall Adopt-a-Family.
The program is geared to help children up to and including 12th grade.
“We want to make sure every child experiences a happy Christmas season in spite of their economic circumstances,” Payne said.
Applications are screened for elibility. Those families accepted for inclusion in Adopt-a-Family will be notified.
Once the first applicants are approved, the listings will begin appearing in The Tylertown Times.
