Joe Speedy Andrews, 80, of Tylertown, died Nov. 19, 2024, at his residence. He was born Feb. 16, 1944, in Tylertown.
Funeral services were Nov. 21, 2024, at Salem Baptist Church, Bro. Mark Wicker officiating, burial in Elliott Cemetery.
Andrews was a life long member of Salem Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. He was a very strong man of his word always saying what he meant with kindness and had a joke to tell everyone he met. He loved drinking coffee, riding his lawn mower, working on his farm and quail hunting.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clint Andrews; mother, Rubye Ginn Andrews; sisters, Juanita Conerly, Dorothy Parkerson, and Malisse “Polly” Brumfield.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years Marilyn Dillon Andrews; son, Darren Andrews (Deborah); daughters, Rhonda Knight (Tyrone) and Stephanie Gilmore; grandchildren, Shelly Andrews, Mallory Watts, Cole Andrews, Morgan Hill (Kevin), Michaela Andrews, Marissa Knight, Camden Gilmore, Chandler Gilmore, Dakota Andrews, Madiann Andrews, and BJ Holmes (Sarah); great grandchildren, Dawsen Holmes, Briania Holmes, Jay Holmes, Hadley Watts, Avery Guillory, Beau Hill, Keegan Gilmore, Cohen Andrews, and Gracie Hill; brother, Loyd Andrews (Delores).
Pallbearers were Cole Andrews, Camden Gilmore, Chandler Gilmore, Kevin Hill, Jason Mallette and BJ Holmes.
Honorary pallbearers were Nathan Wicker, Robert Smith, Buddy Rex Boyd, Billy Wayne Thornhill, James Dillon, Kenneth Murphy, Mark Boyd, TW Bearden, Stanley Brumfield, Earnest Pittman and Eli Holmes.
