Mary Alice Pittman Posey, 85, of Sacramento, CA, and a native of Walthall County, died Jan. 8, 2025, at her residence. She was born Nov. 8, 1939, in Walthall County, to the late Ruberry Pittman and Vivian Bratin Pittman in Tylertown.
She graduated as salutatorian from J.J. Gullege School. She worked at Walthall County School cafeteria becoming manager over the years. After almost 42 years in 2002 she retired.
She would also work in the church kitchen helping serve members and guests. She was known for her dressing, chicken casserole, sweet potato pies and blueberry pies. She would feed anyone that stopped by and send plates around the community to any who were sick or unable to come by.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Veria Pittman and Betty Ruth Pittman; four brothers: Joe Eather Pittman, James L. Pittman, Moise Pittman and Books (Bruce) Pittman.
Survivors are her children, Onyx (LaShun) Posey, Bemson (Gwenda) Posey, Carolyn May, and Willie (Regina) Posey; three sisters, Edna Harris, Legirtha Waring, and Margaret Spikers; one sister-in-law, Mary Ann Pittman; three brothers, Rufus (Yvena) Pittman, Lawrence (Bobbi Jean) Pittman, and Randy Pittman; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were Jan. 25, 2025, at 11:00am with Funeral Services to follow at 12pm at Dexter Mt Olive MBC in Dexter, pastor Reginal Russell officiating and rendering the eulogy with interment to follow in Tylertown Cemetery.
