Parade, egg hunt held early this year

While Easter Sunday is late this year—April 20—Tylertown’s Easter parade and egg hunt comes early, Saturday, April 5, beginning with the Easter parade in Centennial Square. at 10 a.m. while the egg hunt follows at 1 p.m. at Holmes Water Park. (People begin to gather around 12:30 for instructions and to divide into age groups.
Over 3000 plastic eggs are hidden and the park is divided into age groups.
The smallest groups looks for eggs stuffed by Citizens Bank, while the next youngest hunts for 500 eggs stuffed with prizes from Pike National Bank.
Salem High School students volunteer help in stuffing eggs and working with the various crafts and games at the Easter Parade. Angie Boyd coordinates the morning’s activities for the Chamber of Commerce, which sponsors the day.
The egg hunt begins at 1 p.m. at Holmes Water Park in designated areas for each age group.
