Earnest Lee Coon, 81, of Jayess, died May 1, 2025, at his residence. He was born Feb. 18, 1944, in Walthall County. A private service will be held at a later date.
Coon spent his lifetime working as a construction supervisor in gas refineries. His work ethic was very important to him, and getting things done right. His lifelong passion was rebuilding and racing fast classic cars with his son, Allen, with Mopar being his favorite. He was also known for the swings and picnic tables that he made. He was also a freemason.
He was preceded in death by his first love and wife of 40 years, Wilda Howell Coon; his second wife, Eva Mae Roberts Coon; his son, Allen Coon; his parents, Alvie and Zula Mae Dunaway Coon; and one brother, Danny Ray Coon.
He is survived by his daughter, Margaret Schwartz (Edward), of McComb; two brothers, Douglas Vernon Coon (Joyce), of Pine, Jerry Coon (Sylvia), of Jayess; two sisters, Kathy Martin (Floyd), of Jayess, Sheila Arnold (Keith), of Jayess; nine grandchildren, Brandon Ragas (Emily), of Jayess, Fletcher Durrer, of Jayess, Josie Durrer, of McComb, Preslee Holloway, of McComb, Joshua Coon (Alicia), of McComb, Candace Dufrene (Haily), of Oklahoma, Kateline Corkern (Robert), of Georgia, Fred Schwartz, of Brookhaven, Stuart Pasley, of Brookhaven; seven great grandchildren, Ayden Ragas, Anthony Ragas, Gage Ragas, Rayne Jellison, Liam Ty Coon, Jeremiah Allen Coon, Olivia Corkern.
