Louis Joe McKelphin, Jr., 77, of St. Louis, MO, a native of Tylertown, died July 8, 2025, in Bridgeton, MO. He was born Feb. 20, 1948, to the late Louis J. McKelphin, Sr. and Ethel Dixon McKelphin.
He became a member of St. Paul MB Church at an early and attended St. Paul school. He relocated to St. Louis, MO, where he was employed with Machinists Hall Inc. There he met Pearl Birdsong, with whom he shared a lifelong partnership.
He loved traveling to visit his family, enjoyed watching sports and talking on the phone with his brother.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four siblings: Emma Dean Causey, Judith Marlean McKelphin, Paulette McKelphin and Gloria Jean Barfield.
Survivors are his lifelong partner, Pearl Birdsong; his son, Mark (Valerie) Carr; four grandchildren, Oriskany Carr, Anthony Carr, Markel Carr and Tierra Countryman; two great grandchildren, Mi’elle Countryman and Mesorah Countryman; six sisters, Mary McKelphin, and Bessie McKelphin of Tylertown, Mamie (Walter) Magee of Osyka, Arberee Moore of Jackson, Caroline Sutton of Flint, MI, and Norma Bridges of St. Louis, MO; one brother, Randy McKelphin of Tylertown.
Funeral services were July 19, 2025, at St. Paul MB Church, Rev. Isiah Jones officiating with interment in St. Paul MB Church Cemetery.
