Leander Weary, 87, died Nov. 6, 2025. She was born Feb. 28, 1938, to James “Jim” and Fannie Mark Weary in Sandy Hook.
She is preceded in death by her parents; six sisters, Lena Mae Pigott, Augustine Weary, Lealer Faye Weary, Renetta McDermott, Mildred McCann and Helen Jean Weary; brother, Elton Jack Weary.
Visitation was Nov. 12, 2025, at Mt. Bethel M.B. Church, with burial in Mt. Bethel M.B. Church Cemetery. Washington Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Weary was known as “Slope” and “Flip” to many that knew her. At an early age in life, she began living with her sister, Lena Mae Pigott and family, were she remained in her care throughout her adult life. She joined Mt. Bethel M.B. Church at an early age and remained faithful until she was placed in Myrtles Home Center.
Survivors include her sister, Delphina Weary of Bogalusa, LA; niece, Ernestine Green of Sandy Hook.
Pallbearers were Ricky Green, Nelvis Green Jr., Ja’Marcus Expose, Kelvin Green, Jaylin Green and Nel’Tavious Green. Honorary pallbearers were Rev. Loran Pigott, Bobby R. Lowe, James Pigott, Julius Pigott and Richard Pigott.
