Tylertown’s Tami Jones Gains National Recognition in the Sewing World
What began at a kitchen table in Tylertown has grown into a thriving business, a nationwide audience, and now features in two major publications.
Tami Jones, founder of Hometown Quilt Company, has become a leading voice in the sewing and quilting industry, building a brand dedicated to teaching beginners how to sew with confidence. With more than one million followers across social media platforms and millions of monthly video views, Jones has reached audiences around the world by making sewing approachable, practical, and fun.
Known for her beginner-friendly teaching style and authentic Southern charm, Jones has transformed what started as a passion into a full-scale business. Through Hometown Quilt Company, she offers online education, sewing retreats, fabric collections, and beginner-focused curriculum designed to help new sewists learn without fear of making mistakes.
Her accomplishments continue to grow.
Jones is currently featured in Block Magazine, a publication produced by Missouri Star Quilt Company, one of the largest quilting companies in the world. For many outside the quilting world, Block Magazine may be unfamiliar, but within the sewing industry it is considered one of the most respected and widely recognized publications. Distributed to quilting enthusiasts across the country and beyond, the magazine highlights top educators, designers, and innovators in the craft. Being featured in Block Magazine places Jones among some of the most influential names in modern quilting. In addition, Jones is also featured in Mississippi Magazine, a publication that celebrates Mississippi culture, entrepreneurship, and community leaders. Her feature shines a spotlight on her journey from small-town Mississippi business owner to national sewing educator.
Jones has also expanded her creative reach into fabric design with the release of two original fabric collections, each carrying its own meaningful story.
Her first collection, Little Ladies, was inspired by her twin daughters, Olive and Olivia. Full of playful prints, sweet colors, and youthful charm, the collection captures the joy, energy, and imagination of childhood. Designed as a tribute to the little girls who inspire her daily, Little Ladies reflects the beauty of family, motherhood, and creating memories through handmade projects. For Jones, it was more than fabric. It was a love letter stitched into every print.
Her newest collection, Blooming Besties, continues that storytelling through fabric with a message of friendship, growth, and resilience. Inspired by the idea of blooming where you are planted, the collection celebrates life’s seasons and the people who stand beside us through them. Filled with cheerful florals, playful colors, and a warm sense of encouragement, Blooming Besties reflects the same heart Jones has poured into her teaching: creativity, connection, and confidence.
Together, these collections mark another major milestone in Jones’ career, expanding her influence beyond education and into fabric design, giving her growing community of makers something personal and meaningful to create with.
Beyond her magazine features and fabric collections, Jones has hosted sold-out retreats, launched her own educational academy, developed a beginner sewing curriculum, partnered with major industry brands, and continues to advocate for making sewing accessible to everyone, especially beginners.
“I built my business on the belief that you don’t have to be perfect to start,” Jones said. “Sewing can feel intimidating, but my goal has always been to make people feel capable the moment they sit down at the machine.”
As her reach continues to expand, Jones remains rooted in the same small-town values that helped shape her journey. From Tylertown to national magazine pages, fabric collections, sold-out retreats, and a global audience, she is proving that big dreams can be stitched together one step and one seam at a time.
