After an almost 20 year battle with cancer, Sandra Jo Conerly Johnson died Aug. 23, 2025. She was born Oct. 1, 1965, at Ochsner’s Foundation Hospital in Jefferson, LA, to the late Bobby Jo and Emogene Willoughby Conerly.
She attended Walthall County schools and after graduation from THS, she attended Southwest and Co-Lin, graduating from USM with a bachelor’s degree in nursing in 2005. After obtaining her RN, she worked at Walthall General Hospital, Marion General Hospital, Beecham Memorial, and Good Samaritan Living Center. She also taught LPN classes at the Sullivan Campus of Northshore Technical Community College in Bogalusa.
As much as Sandy loved the mountains of Montana, and animals- from lizards to parakeets to horses (Sugarbeet, Apache, Moonfire, and Trouble), but especially her dogs (Kash, Ragner, and Floki) – she loved her family so much more.
Sandy is survived by her husband or 37 years, Wendell Johnson’ two sons, Trey (Lauren) Johnson of Pine and Trent (Skylar) Johnson of Angie; grandchildren – Kaiden, Kyler, Karter, Natalee, Beaux, Duce, Nash, Kashton, and Langston; her mother-in-law, Emily Carter Johnson Wiltsey (Bruce); sister-in-law Mashea Johnson (Amanda); sister, Deborah Conerly Dillon (Ray); brother, Robert Jeffrey Conerly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, James Lamkin and Vesta Fornea Conerly and Fred Miller and Emily Sibley Willoughby; sister-in-law Merinda Johnson, and father-in-law, Larry Wendell Johnson.
Funeral services were Aug. 28, 2025, at Capps Funeral Home with Bro. Harold Gaddy officiating. Capps Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. An online guestbook may be signed at www.hartmanhughesfuneralhome.com
