Garry H. Dier, 75, died April 9, 2026. He was born Aug. 4, 1950, in McComb, MS.
Garry answered the call of duty with valor and pride, serving actively in the U. S. Army for three years and another three years in the reserves. His commitment to public service continued after he retired from the Louisiana State Troopers Assn., when he lent his expertise to the narcotics bureau in Mississippi.
He was a devoted member of Tylertown Baptist Church, where he helped guide young boys in the RA’s program and contributed to the church’s security team. Garry found joy in the outdoors in hunting and fishing, and passed this passion along to his son and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Ashley Stovall Dier,; son, Logan Scott Dier; daughter, Dana Cammack (Byron); grandchildren, Luke, Daven, and Josiah Cammack; father-in-law, Johnny Stovall; mother-in-law, Shelly Stovall; brother-in-law, Blake Stovall (LeaAnn); nephew Dillon Stovall; brothers, Kelly Dier (Teresa) of Birmingham, AL, Anston Dier (Ann) of Progress, MS; special nephew, Travis Murry and his family of Livingston, LA.
Garry was preceded in death by his parents, Harold (Bud) and Mary Strahan; brother, Kenneth Dier.
A service to honor Garry’s life will be held Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Tylertown Baptist Church, located at 409 Tyler Ave., Tylertown.
