Annie Bell Holmes, 99, died May 17, 2026. She was born Dec. 4, 1926, in Tylertown, to the late Warren and Tempie Pecolia McMannis Ball. Annie Bell was the seventh of ten children and was raised on the family farm.
She united with the Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and remained faithful until her health declined. Annie Bell graduated from Mt. Moriah Elementary School in 1943 and enrolled at Walthall County Training School in the 9th grade that same year.  While attending WCTS, she met her future husband, the late Ollie H. Holmes, Jr.
Mrs. Holmes is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; siblings, Carrie (Cleotha) Ball-Causey, Ado (Daisy) Ball, Rutha (Georgia) Ball-Barnes, Andrew (Wilda and Mary Lee) Ball, E.J. (Ozzie Lee) Ball, Murphy (Eva Belle) Ball, Ernestine (M.L.) Ball-Magee, Oberzine (Oliver) Ball-Williams, and Lattimore (Alnethia) Ball.
Survivors include her son, Osborne (Georgia) Holmes, Sr.; three grandsons, Osborne Holmes, Jr., Randal Holmes, and Garrett (Keyanna) Holmes; three great-grandchildren, Randaija Holmes, Ty’Laija Holmes, and Raileigh Holmes; two siblings, Lattimore Ball and Oberzine Williams.
Visitation was May 19, 2026, and May 20, 2026, at Washington Funeral Home, Tylertown, with Rev. Carl Bickham officiating the service. Burial was in Ball’s Cemetery in Tylertown.
Pallbearers were Osborne Holmes, Jr., Randal Holmes, Garrett Holmes, Waynes Magee. Honorary pallbearers were Osborne Holmes, Sr., Lattimore Ball, Charles Ball, and Miles Magee.
