Lashonda “Shon’ Lashell Holmes, 56, of Tylertown, died on July 11, 2026, at Southwest MS Regional Medical Center. She was born Feb. 24, 1970, in New Orleans, LA, to Darlene Holmes and Robert Bryant.
Shon graduated from Tylertown High School as a member of the Class of 1988. She continued her education at Jackson State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree, and later pursued her master’s degree at William Carey University.
Throughout her life, Shon dedicated herself to serving others and making a lasting impact in her community. She wore many hats with grace and compassion, serving as an educator, school counselor, Girl Scout leader, Boy Scout den mother, member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a mentor to countless individuals.
Through her unwavering commitment to helping others, she touched the lives of many and left a legacy of kindness, leadership, and service.
Shon found joy in traveling, cooking, gardening, online shopping, tailgating with the Blue Wave Crew, and above all, spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Fleet Howard and Viola Howard; and her sister, Christina Bryant.
Survivors include her parents; her husband, Kendall Holmes; children, Gerell, Gabriel, Dazea, Jada, Kynda, and Sean; sisters, Danielle, Felicia, and Jennifer; brothers, Lavell Howard and Steven Bryant.
Visitation was July 16, 2026, at Craft-Dillon-Ginn Memorial Chapel, and July 17, 2026, at St. Paul MB Church in Tylertown. Burial was in the Howard Family Cemetery.
