J C Lewis, 89, of Magnolia, died June 12, 2020, at his residence in Magnolia.
Born Nov. 26, 1930, in Tylertown, he was the son of the late J. Lee Lewis, and Lillie Brumfield Lewis.
On Nov. 8, 1950, he married his childhood sweetheart, Flora Lee (Simmons). They had two sons, Jimmy and J.C. Lewis Jr.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife Flora Lee Lewis; two sons, Jimmy and J.C. Lewis Jr.; five siblings, Tom Lewis, Johnny Lewis, Sam Lewis, Mabel Lewis Carson and Glendora Lewis Braud.
After his first wife died, J C was married to Leola Dawson Lewis Aug. 22, 2015. He was a honorably discharged U.S. Army veteran. J C earned a Purple Heart during the Korean War. After he returned home he started a business and attended Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where he joined the male chorus.
Survivors are his wife, Leola Lewis; daughter-in-law, Darcell Lewis; grandchildren, Corey Lewis (Christy), Shantrell Lewis (Stanley), Melissa Lewis, Christopher Lewis, Enjoli Weslynn-Lewis, Arianne Lewis, and Lonzena Lewis.
A funeral service was June 20, 2020, at Washington Funeral Home, interment in Shady Grove Church Cemetery in Osyka.
Pallbearers were Douglas Bryant, Vincent Bryant, Bobby Earl Harris and Derrick Braud.
Honorary pallbearers were Chris Lewis, Corey Lewis, Coreyon Lewis and Charlton Grey.
Washington Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
