Minister Alonzo Robertson, 75, of McComb, died July 3, 2020 at his residence in McComb.
Born May 15, 1945, in Tylertown, he was the son of the late Albert Leon Robertson and Mary Lee Pigott Robertson.
He joined Lee’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church as a child. During his adolescence he took his musical talent on the road which eventually lead him to Spring Hill Church of God in Christ where he remained a member until his death. He served on the deacon board and was the Sunday School superintendent for many years. He was called into the ministry, therefore he attended the C.H. Mason Jurisdictional Institutes. He was a scholar student. He accomplished his lifelong dream preaching his first sermon titled “A Mean Man” March 8, 2020.
At an early age, he married Alfreda (Lenoir) Robertson, McComb. They had three children.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Zeno Robertson, Clinnard Robertson, Coralean “Pee Wee” Robertson, and Clifton Robertson; five sisters, Jerry Lean Turner, Thelma Marie Robertson, Carolyn Robertson, Bonnie Jean Bickham, and Mary Lean Richardson.
Survivors are his children, Lonnie Ray Robertson of Hattiesburg, Lisa Robertson of McComb, Mary Kathryn Robertson Nobles of Atlanta, GA, and Clinton Robertson of McComb; their mother, Alfreda Robertson; seven grandchildren: Courtney Robertson, Whitney Robertson, Krystal Robertson, A’Royalty Robertson, Leterra Youngblood, Curinthia Ohiomu, and Frederick Nobles, II; eight great grandchildren, Cameron Robertson, Addyson Isaac, Morghan Isaac, Raegin Isaac, JaRiah Webber, Krysten Onunkun, Emerald Youngblood, and Kyran Bethley; six sisters: Catherine Dillon, Alberta (Michael) Dillon, Wanda (William) Payton, Patty Lou Cotton, Janice Brumfield of Hackley and Amelia (Wayne) Cyrprian of Folsom; one brother, Albert Leon (Michelle) Robertson of Hackley; siblings: Alma (Angelo) Cole, Aerletha (Lynn) Lee, Alton (Bobby), Jenny Lynn; a special sister-in-law, Earline Causey, a brother-in-law, Luther Ray Gatlin, dear friend, Ben Ratliff.
A funeral service was July 11, 2020, at Lee’s Chapel MBC, Tylertown, with Eld. Fred Dillon rendering the eulogy. Interment was in the Lee’s Chapel MBC Cemetery in Tylertown.
Pallbearers were Ray Lenoir, Billy McGowan, Wayne Cyprian, Bobby Lenoir, Michael Dillon and William Payton.
Washington Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
