James Earl “Pop” Bridges, 65, of Pontiac, MI, formerly of Tylertown, died Aug. 19, 2020, at his residence. A funeral service was Aug. 27, 2020, at Monument of Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Pontiac, MI, pastor James H. Keys, Sr., officiating. Interment was in Perry Mount Park Cemetery in Pontiac, MI.
He was born Oct. 15, 1954, in Tylertown to the late Margaret and Otis Bridges. Bridges moved to Pontiac, MI, and graduated from Pontiac Central High School in 1973. Immediately after high school, he began working at General Motors in the truck and bus group, where he retired after working over 30 years. Bridges enjoyed working on classic cars and outdoor landscaping.
Survivors are his children, Michael Carlos Bridges, Bridget Butler, Janeice (Jerome) Bouverette, David (Christina) Bridges and Seth Adam-Kobie Bridges; grandchildren, Champelle Bridges, Ja’Varea Washington, Michael Bridges, Jr., Michaela Bridges, Isaac Bridges, Dominique Jacob, Devanier Jacob, Brooke Broadnax, Courtney Bridges, Chanel and Caitlynn Bridges; great grand children, Ray’Mere Bridges, Donovan Dixon, Jr., Daleon Dixon, Sincere and Sahriah Lee; siblings, James Otis (Eddie Ruth) Bridges, Mattie Jean Bridges, Bobbie Lee and James Ray (Gwen) Smith.
Bridges was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Otis Bridges; siblings, Jessie Smith, Jr., and Etta Johnson and Sherry Brent.
