Funeral services for Alvis Estic Fortenberry, 97, of Tylertown, were Jan. 1, 2021, at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home in the chapel with Rev. Justin Knight officiating, interment at New Zion Cemetery.
Fortenberry died in Tylertown Dec. 29, 2020. He was born Aug. 11, 1923, in Pike County to the late Mattie and Buey Fortenberry. He is also preceded in death by his wife Hilda Fortenberry, brother John Spivey and niece Sharon Burke.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He enjoyed his community and was always willing to help them out if they needed him for anything.
Survivors include his daughters Emmie Pulliam, Vickie Brown; sons Anthony (Gina) Fortenberry, Richard Fortenberry; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-granndchildren; four great-great- grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Alex Fortenberry, Matt Brown, Cody Brown, Maurice Beard, Justin Terrell, and Mason Stinson .
Honorary pallbearers were Caleb Fortenberry, Dale McDaniel, Lane Clevenger, and Tyler Brown.
