Bobbie McEwen Boyd Myers, 81, died July 8, 2021, at her home in Tylertown.
She was born in Jayess and was the daughter of Sidney and Winnie Bullock McEwen. She loved crafts and traveling with her sisters and friends. She enjoyed baking and was known for her egg custard and blueberry pies. As her health began to fail, she took to bird watching from her favorite spot on her porch and always made sure her feathered friends were well fed. She was a member of Enon Baptist Church where she dedicated many hours, alongside her husband, to training and preparing the children and youth Bible drill participants. She also served as a Sunday School and Discipleship Training teacher for many years.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband of 40 years and the father of her sons, J.P. Boyd; her second husband, Emory “Bill” Myers; one sister, Glenda Wilson; one brother, Aubrey McEwen; two brothers-in-law, Gary Wilson and Don Barlow and one great grandchild, Sami Hedden.
She is survived by two sons, Terry Boyd (Julia) and Jerry Boyd (DeeDee), all of Tylertown; two brothers, Harold McEwen (Beverly) of McCall Creek and Jimmy McEwen ( Nannette) of Jayess; two sisters, Mary Barlow of Braxton and Sue Langston (Nolan) of Baton Rouge; grandchildren Haley Hedden (Charlie) of Montgomery, AL, Ben Boyd (Stacey) of Pearl, Josh Boyd (Emily) of Tylertown, and Eric Boyd (Hannah) of Hattiesburg; great-grandchildren, Caden and Kynlee Boyd, Caroline, JoJo, and Audrey Hedden and Baylor Boyd; Bill’s children, Brian Myers (Jan) of Metairie, Dwayne Myers (Lane) of Sardis, Loretta Tesvich (Kuzma) of Belle Chasse, LA, and Charlotte Myers of Gretna, LA.
A funeral service was July 10, 2021, at Enon Baptist Church, Rev. Ben Boyd and Rev. David Hedden officiating, burial at Enon Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Josh Boyd, Eric Boyd, Jeffrey McEwen, Darren McEwen, Todd Wilson, and Charles Lee.
Honorary pallbearers were Caden Boyd, Baylor Boyd, Charlie Hedden, Ricky Wilson, and Calvin McEwen.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Baptist Children’s Village/ The Dickerson Place.
