Graveside services for Mildred Joana Breeland, 87, of Tylertown, were at Rushing Cemetery July 10, 2021.
Mrs. Breeland died July 8, 2021. She was born Oct. 11, 1933, in Lexie to the late Dollie and Leslie Brock. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband General G Breeland, Jr.; son Randall Jace Breeland; sisters Peggy Stringer and Pat Smith.
Mrs. Breeland was a retired educator that served 36 years in Mississippi, Texas, and Alabama. Her home was always open to children where she could take a simple meal and turn it into a feast. She was not a Breeland by blood but she was passionate about the genealogy of the family and would host the Breeland Family Reunion at her home even after her husband’s passing. She was an active member of the Lexie School committee and author of the Western Walthall column for the Tylertown Times. Mrs. Breeland was also an animal lover.
Survivors include her children Laura (John) Riley, Mack Leslie (Kelly) Breeland, Joe Pete Breeland, and General G (Donna) Breeland III; grandchildren Bridgett Breeland, Sarah Kennedy, Jerod King, Jeffrey King, Janna Rose Clark, Mackenzie Breeland, Lucas Breeland, Joey Breeland, Morgan Breeland, Brock Breeland, John Andrew Campbell, Jr, Emily Ladner, Anna Breeland; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; special niece Gail Hall.
