Hughey Greer, 81, died Feb. 28, 2022, at Southwest Medical Center. He was born Jan. 1, 1941, in Walthall County to Kermit Greer and Ora Thornhill Greer.
He was a member of Enon Baptist Church where he sang in the choir and helped with their disaster relief ministry as long as he was able to. He loved to farm and spending time in the outdoors. He was an avid gardener and fisherman. Some would remember him for his time at the Enterprise Journal, East McComb Body Shop, and other various business interests.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his step-mom, Inez Aughtman; his first wife, Lou Greer; one brother-in-law, David Edgar Boyd; one sister-in-law, Sue Alexander; and one great-grandchild, Bailey.
Survivors are his wife of 44 years, Lavoyce Alexander Greer; one sister, Betty Boyd; two daughters, Cheryl Pigott (Randall Pigott) and Tamara Fowler (Richard); one son, Randy Greer (Robbey); eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Mickey Boyd, Willie Earl Greer, Randall Pigott, Richard Fowler, Mike Alexander, and Kenny Alexander
Honorary pallbearers were Joel Anderson, Vernon Alexander, Robert Hughes, and Wade Greer.
A service was March 4, 2022, at Enon Baptist Church in Jayess, burial at the church cemetery with Rev. David Hedden officiating.
Sharkey Funeral Home of Summit was in charge of the arrangements.
