Trueveen Foxworth Carney, 91, of New Orleans, died Feb. 18, 2022, at her residence after a lengthy illness.
She was born Nov. 21, 1930, in Marion County to the late Horace and Helen Crook Foxworth in Kokomo. She joined New Damascus Baptist Church where she remained a member.
In 1953 she married Eddie D. Carney and they had six children. Upon moving to New Orleans, she was employed in the hospitality industry. At Loving Four Baptist Church she served in the women’s ministry, pastor’s aid ministry and deaconess board.
She was known for her baked treats and welcoming people into her home.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie D. Carney; one son, Gary Carney; one brother, I.V. Foxworth; two sisters, Vada Cowart and Lenola Conerly; a daughter-in-law, Annie B. Ford.
Survivors are five children, Billy Wayne Ford, Eddie Dwain Carney (Patricia), Anthony Carney, Suzanne Carney and Greta Carney; five grandchildren, Katanya Selby (Frank), Kawana Burney (Gary), Sheree Melton (Dave), Toya Carney and Kaiesha Ford; five great grandchildren, Kendall Ford, Nadia Carney, Kyle Ford, Frank “Spud” Selby V and Kaleb “Be-Be” Selby; one sister, Ada Sellers (Walter Sr.), one sister-in-law Doris Denson; one brother-in-law, Jewel Carney (Ruby).
A funeral service was March 5, 2022, at The Loving Four Baptist Tabernacle Baptist Church in New Orleans with Rev. Matthew Tanner, Jr. officiating, interment in New Damascus Church Cemetery in Kokomo.
