Fannie Bordelon
April 6, 1931 – April 23, 2022
Fannie Elaine Brock Bordelon, 91, died April 23, 2022. She was born April 6, 1931, to Eric and Ruth Brock in Tylertown.
They, along with younger brother Rodney Lee “Red” Brock, eked out a living on the family farm. While working in Norco, she met her future husband, Louis Bordelon.
Despite working long hours on the farm, often missing school for weeks to help with fall harvest, she graduated valedictorian of her senior class at Lexie school.
After graduation, she and Louis married in December 1949, and moved to Baton Rouge where opportunities were more plentiful. She worked at the LSU Dairy Improvement Center until she welcomed her first son into the world. She returned to LSU after her second son started school several years later. After moving from the hamlet of Hope Villa to Baton Rouge proper, Fannie started working for the East Baton Rouge Parish School System as a bus driver, a job she held for 25 years.
Mrs. Bordelon always had a vegetable garden, as well as fruit and flowering trees throughout the yard.
Survivors are her two sons, Louis E “Mike” Bordelon (Joy) and James S “Jim” Bordelon (Pam); three step-grandchildren, Michael, David and Thomas Kennon; and three great-grandchildren, TJ, Sofia and Alex Kennon. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Louis and brother Rodney Lee.
Services were at Greenoaks Memorial Funeral Home April 30, 2022, burial at the Tylertown Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Michael, David and Thomas Kennon, Mark Monistere, nephew Bill Brock and son Jim. Honorary pallbearers were TJ and Alex Kennon.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Fannie’s favorite charity, Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home, or the charity of your choice.
