Funeral services for Emma “Lucille” Thomas, 82, of Sandy Hook, were Sept. 29, 2022, at Carson Springs Baptist Church in Sandy Hook, interment in the church cemetery, Rev. Archie Herrin, Rev. Harold Gaddy, and Rev. Eddie Henson officiating.
She was born April 8, 1940, to the late William Day Phillips and Essie P. Phillips. She died Sept. 27, 2022.
Mrs. Thomas was a life-long member of the Improve Community of Sandy Hook. Her husband of 59 years was Hilmon J. Thomas, who preceded her in death. A very well known floral designer, Lucille used her talents and creativity to serve her community and the surrounding areas. She was a member of Carson Springs Baptist Church for over 65 years, as well as a member of the Eastern Star in Tylertown. She was also known for her Crunchy Top Pound Cake.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, William O. Phillips; five sisters; Eula Duncan, Nelda Knight, Eleanor R. Phillips, Ollie Corkern, Madge Ladner; and her step-father, Dwight Beard.
She is survived by her three sons; John Thomas (Tammy); Todd Thomas (Angie), Jeff Thomas (Laura); one daughter, Sabrina Henson (Eddie); one brother-in-law, Elton Miley; four grandsons; Drew Thomas (Nicole), Duran Thomas, Josh Thomas, Reed Henson; eight granddaughters; Ashley Thomas (Derwood), Shellie Thomas, Kayla Rainer (Joey), Vanessa Lomas (Matthew), Anna Thomas (Daniel), Whitney Henson (Adam), Annsley Thomas (Alex), Emily Henson (Bo); five step- grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Kenny Thomas, Terry Thomas, Jerry Thomas, Wendall Stogner, Elton Miley, Brody Burnthorn, Matthew Lomas, and Daniel Little.
