Gary Zane Wood, 75, of Tylertown, died at his home Dec. 10, 2022. He was born Sept. 23, 1947, in Tylertown.
Funeral services were Dec. 13, 2022, at Calvary Baptist Church in Tylertown, burial in the Wood Cemetery, Revs. Jerry Wayne Dillon and Landon Lambert officiating.
Wood was a member of Calvary Baptist Church; was a Vietnam Veteran and served in the Army infantry; and a member of the Tylertown American Legion Post 2001. He worked for Exxon Pipeline for 36 years. He was best known as “Snake” by family and friends.
Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, canoeing, cooking, and listening to music.
He was preceded in death by his father Lieutillous Elonzo Wood; and mother Gloria Gertrude Duprat Wood.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years Jo Ann Sandifer Wood; daughters Tracy Wood Comeaux (David) and Casey Renee Wood; grandchildren William Noah Comeaux, Kathryn Denny Comeaux, and Dylan Leighann Clark; brother Danny Wood (Linda); sisters Judy Holmes (John Ray), Karen Thomas (Ted), and Deborah Helton (Buddy); K-9 companion Wilson.
Pallbearers were Steve Dickey, Darryl Hote, Dan Landess, Rodney Wood, Noah Comeaux, and Matthew Thomas.
Honorary pallbearers were Larry Cook and C J Bergeron.
