Nellie Lavern Bean Hale, 93, of McComb, died Jan. 10, 2023, at Camellia Estates in McComb.
Funeral services were Jan. 13, 2023, at Gillsburg Baptist Church, Dr. Victor Walsh and Rev. Austin Bean officiating, burial at Gillsburg Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Hale was born March 22, 1929, in McComb to the late Haywood Kornegay and Hattie Kornegay.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands Edwin L. Bean, Sr. and Johnny Hale, one son, Haywood Estle “Woody” Bean, and four siblings.
She is survived by two sons Ed Bean and Brad C. Bean (Amy), seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one step-son, two step-daughters, three step-grandchildren.
“Lavern” as she was affectionately known as in McComb, was a city girl who married Edwin Bean to live on a dairy farm in Gillsburg where she lived the life of a farm wife, but never lost her zeal for clothes, shopping and traveling. She graduated from McComb High School. She was a member of Gillsburg Baptist Church.
Pallbearers were her grandsons Bryce Bean, Tyler Bean, Brandon Bean, Christopher Bean, Nicholas Bean and Austin Bean.
