Dorothy Ellen Wood Bilbo, 89, died Jan. 26, 2023, in Tylertown. She was the eldest of five daughters. She was a graduate of New Zion School. She loved her New Zion Baptist Church family, but most importantly she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and shared her faith with all she met. She loved working in her yard and having afternoon coffee with her family and friends.
She was born Nov. 11, 1933, in Tylertown to the late Nelson and Freddie Brock Wood. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 50 years, J. W. Bilbo, sisters Nelda Wood Johnson and Barbara Wood Laird, brothers-in-law Ben Ferguson and Marvin Johnson, and niece Tara Ferguson Moore.
She is survived by one son, Greg Nelson (Susan) Bilbo of Tylertown, one daughter, Jan Elizabeth (Clint) Husser of Springfield, LA; grandchildren Sara (Andrew) Sharp of Brandon, Adam (Kaitlin) Bilbo of Sumrall, Zachary (Marissa) Husser of Ruston, LA, Beau Brock Husser and Luke Husser, both of Springfield, LA; great grandchildren Walker and Avery Sharp and Baby Husser; sisters Beverly Ferguson of Brewton, AL, and Virginia (Paul) Graves of Tylertown.
Pallbearers were Adam Bilbo, Zachary Husser, Beau Husser, Luke Husser, Andrew Sharp, and Walker Sharp.
Honorary pallbearers were Paul Graves, Keith Fortinberry, and Christian Graves.
Services were Jan. 28, 2023, at New Zion Baptist Church, burial in the Wood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Gideons International.
