Sallie P. Carr, 78, of Tylertown, died Jan. 23, 2023, at Scripps Memorial Hospital, La Jolla, CA. She was born Aug. 11, 1944, in Louisville to the late Annie Mae and Roy Lee Edmond.
She was a member of West Sunnyhill MB Church where she sang in the choir. After graduating high school, she moved to Chicago.
She married Addo Carr Feb. 3, 1968, and in 1987 they retired and moved back to Tylertown.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Addo Carr; sister, Ruby Wilson; brother, Philip Edmond; father and mother-in-law, JC and Will B Carr; six brothers-in-law, Joe Wilson, Johnny Q. Carr, LJ Carr, Rev. Rawls, Melvin Graham, Johnny Sanders and Jesse Butler; four sisters-in-law, Jessie Graham, Perlean Edmond, Jessie Lee Carr and Lillean Carr.
Survivors are her daughter, Cynthia Carr-Brown of Carlsbad, Calif.; granddaughter, Salisha Carr of Carlsbad, Calif.; one sister, Annie Kate (Willie) Brown of Columbus; four brothers, Leon (Evelyn) Edmond of Maywood, IL, James (Josie) Edmond, Willie (Debra) Edmond, both of Louisville, Howard (Adrienne) Edmond of Oklahoma City, OK; three brothers-in-law, Clifford (Myrtis) Carr, Lessie Carr, both of Tylertown, Ellis James Carr of Houma, LA; eight sisters-in-law, Alyne Butler, of Pontiac, MI, Willean Rawls (Rev Rawls), Jerzine (Robert) Simmons, of Clarkston, MI, Ellah Sanders of Memphis, TN, Otta Carr, Gloria Conerly, Arie Campbell, (Syleary) Videaner Carr, all of Tylertown.
A celebration of life was Feb. 11, 2023, at West Sunny Hill MB Church, burial in the church cemetery.
