James Lester “Jim” Wood, 78, of Franklinton, died May 27, 2023, at the St. Tammany Parish Hospital. He was born July 7, 1944, in Tylertown.
Funeral services were May 30, 2023, at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home, burial in New Zion Cemetery in Tylertown, Eld. Duane Ball and Rev. James Thornhill officiating.
Wood was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He enjoyed listening to The Ventures music, horses, making his own fireworks, drawing, and painting. Jim was always there with a helping hand in his community. He had a true fighting spirit when it came to his health and life.
He was preceded in death by his father Freddie Wood; mother Mable Duncan Wood; brother Hubert Wood; sisters Rosa Rennett Graham, Edna Earl Landry, and Carolyn Elizabeth Wood.
Survivors include his sister Shirley Magee; sister-in-law Sue Wood.
Pallbearers were Brant Knight, Tyrone Knight, Danny Wood, Aaron Wood, Andrew Wood, and Logan Wood.
Honorary pallbearers were Gage Knight, Christian Knight, Tristin Thomas, and Delbert Wood.
