John Melton Dillon, 64, of Tylertown, died Aug. 7, 2023, at Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg. He was born Sept. 12, 1958, to the late Q.D. and Deloris Dillon in Tylertown.
He was a member of Antioch M.B. Church where he, his father, and brothers sang in a gospel group known as “The Tylertown Spirituals” where Dillon would show the world his love for music by playing his bass guitar and singing praises.
He worked for many years alongside his brothers with 3-D Logging. In 1979, John met his longtime companion Cynthia and they had five children.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Elvis Dillon and Quentis Dillon; special son, Kardale Ginn.
Survivors are his wife, Cynthia Dillon of Tylertown; three sons, Jonathon Dillon, James Dillon and Joshua Dillon of Tylertown; two daughters, Jalisa Dillon and Shannan Dillon of Tylertown; four brothers, Willis (Shanna) Dillon, Jerry Dillon, Charlie (Brenda) Dillon, and James (Shirley) Dillon, all of Tylertown; two sisters, Diane McElveen and Patsy Robins of Tylertown; eight grandchildren, A’Dasia, D,Marchekeyonna, Jaimen, Ky’Lanni, JaKaylee, MarKiyah, A’Khaisas and Preston.
A funeral service was Aug. 19, 2023, at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, pastor J.J. Wilson officiating, interment at Tylertown Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Chad Dillon, Johntarious Magee, Willis Dillon, Jerrick Dillon, Dennis Dillon and Quentis Dillon.
Honorary pallbearers were Jonathon Dillon, James Dillon, Joshua Dillon, Dexter Melvin and Ashton Elzey.
Washington Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
