Rosie Mae Hurst, 84, died Aug. 27, 2023, at King’s Daughter Hospital, Brookhaven. She was born Dec. 31, 1938, in Pike County to the late Myrt Warren and Myrtle Simmons.
She was a member of St. Joseph Church of the Living God. She was married to Van Claude Hurst Sr. on May 10, 1958. They were married 61 years and blessed with 12 grandchildern. She was homemaker and took her kids to church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Van Hurst Sr; one son, Roger Hurst; one daughter Myrtle Hurst Raiford; one brother, Claude Brooks.
Survivors are 10 children, Min. Van Hurst (Lynn) of Jackson, Ruby Strauder (Ernest) of Kenner, LA, Randy Hurst (Minola) of Natchez, Toney Curtis Hurst (Jennifer) of Summit, Deborah Gardner of Jackson, Otis Ray Hurst (Victoria) of Magnolia, Larry, Willie, Titus, and Calvin Hurst, all of Progress; a sister, Mary Lou Coleman of Memphis, TN; two brothers, Charles Brooks (Rosetta) of Magnolia, and Rick Brooks (Jackie) of Virginia.
Funeral services were Sept. 3, 2023 Kelly MB Church, Osyka, Bishop Donald Smith officiating, interment in the church cemetery.
