Mary Lee Magee Holmes, 96, of Tylertown, died Sept. 29, 2023, at her residence after a brief illness. Mrs. Holmes was born Sept. 7, 1927, in Walthall County to the late Julius Magee and James Ella Dillon Magee.
On March 10, 1951, she was married to J.L. Holmes and they had seven children. She was a member of Dillon Hill Church of God in Christ where she served on the mother board, usher board and home and foreign missions.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.L. Holmes; three children, Vicky Kay Ball, Lee Brenda Dillon and Ricky Holmes; four brothers, Willie J. Magee, Julius Magee Jr., Moise Velt Magee and John Albert Magee; five sisters, Annie Mae Smith, Rosie Lee Harris, Myrtis Lee Brumfield, Ophelia Andrew and Ora Dee Washington.
Survivors are four daughters, Betty (Charles) Holmes, Anginette (John) Causey and Glenda (Kenneth) Carson, all of Tylertown, Elizabeth (Leroy) Davis of Raymond; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Holmes of Tylertown; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were Oct. 7, 2023, at Dillon Hill COGIC Church in Tylertown, Supt. Gene Smith officiating, with interment in the Dillon Hill COGiC Church Cemetery.
