Jerry Fleet Barnes, 85, of Tylertown, died Jan. 6, 2024, at the Merit Health Wesley in Hattiesburg. He was born May 15, 1938, in Walthall County.
Funeral services were Jan. 10, 2024, at Centerville Baptist Church (Lexie), burial in the Centerville Church Cemetery, Revs. Mike Anderson and Tom Burris officiating.
Barnes was a longtime member of Centerville Baptist Church in Lexie and was a man of many talents. He worked at the nuclear power plant in Port Gibson for 15 years, owned Barnes Kwick Stop, and was a well-known butcher for his business Barnes Meat Plant. After his retirement he found his true passion in life which was raising cattle. He was preceded in death by his father Fleet Barnes; mother Era Dillon Barnes; and sister Sarah Jean Smith.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years Norma Jean Boyd Barnes; son Randall Jerry Barnes (Regina Hayes); daughter Lisa Annette Polk (Tonie); grandchildren Clint Polk, Deanne Minarik, Amanda Jellison, Angelia Murphy, Brandon Polk, Amber Breland and Sandra Barnes; 18 great grandchildren; brother, Price Barnes (Peggy).
Pallbearers were Clint Polk, Brandon Polk, Drew Polk, Garreth Murphy, Brandon Minarik and Cody Breland.
Honorary pallbearers were Jewel Holmes, Buck Johnson, Tommy Johnson, Greg Smith, Keith Brock, Bubba Lang, Ralph Stinson, Doug Grammer, and Tonie Polk.
