Register May 3 for Pre-K, kindergarten classes

Walthall County Schools will be registering pre-K and kindergarten students at Dexter, Salem and Tylertown Primary school campuses from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, May 3.
Parents or legal guardians must accompany the child and be present in order to fill out proper documents to register the child. Legal guardians are also required to have legal custody documentation signed by a judge.
Requirements to register a child include:
•A certified long form birth certificate is to be presented including the child’s age and parent’s name. Pre-K children must be 4-years-old on or before Sept. 1, 2024. Kindergarten children must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2024.
•A Mississippi immunization record from the Walthall County Health Department or a doctor’s office is to be presented stating that the child has completed his or her immunization shots.
•The child’s social security card.
•-Proof that the child’s parents or legal guardians are legal residents of Walthall County. Two proofs of residency are required showing the 911 address or street address, A post office box is not acceptable.
If the residence is not in the name of the parent or legal guardian, an affidavit of residency from the homeowner must be filled out and notarized. The two proofs of residency must be in the homeowner’s name. Items accepted as proofs of residency include-an apartment/house lease, rent receipt;
•filed homestead exemption;
•mortgage documents or property deed;
•a current utility bill (electric, water, garbage, gas);•-current driver’s license or state ID card;
•automobile registration;
•911 printouts;
(Cell phone, cable, satellite bills, bank statements are not acceptable.)
Legal guardians must show proof of guardianship signed by a judge.
