Charles Edward Brister, 87, of Tylertown, died May 24, 2024, at Forrest General Hospital. He was born Aug. 30, 1936, in Tylertown, to the late Claude Brister and Codella Gatlin Brister.
He worked in the field of construction including building bridges and carpentry. He later became the owner of his own company Brister’s Construction for over 40 years.
Brister served as a Boy Scout’s leader and little league basecall coach.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters.
Survivors are his wife of 59 years, Laura Pearl Bristere; his daughters, Yumeko “Mimi” Meshea Brister, Mederia “Cookie” Denise Shaffer (Dwight), Renee Hallman (Kenneth), Tarnesha Baker; Patrick Magee whom was like a son; nephew, Michael Lampton; his grandchildren, Dwight Charles Henry Shaffer (Canietha), Marissa Stewart (Austin), Kendall Downs (Tamela), Pilar Shaffer (Derrick), Kenya Downs, Kennedy Downs (Caderricka) and Re’Shon Baker; sister, Sue Trudo; brother, James Quinn (Loria).
Funeral services were June 1, 2024, at New Testament Church of Deliverance Tylertown, pastor Charles Shaffer officiating with interment in Brister Family Cemetery.
