‘Parade of Lights,’ Tuesday, Dec. 3, 5:30 p.m.

The Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade committee met recently to outline plans for the annual event which serves to bring Santa Claus to town riding the Chamber’s sleigh, guided by reindeer as the final float in the parade. Tylertown’s “Parade of Lights” will step off promptly at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, from the staging, lineup and judging area on Broad Street at Tylertown Elementary School and the Tylertown Baptist Church parking lot. Entries are sought for the parade including decorated floats, cars, trucks, side-by-sides. Marching and performing units, dancers, etc. may enter. For entries to be judged, they must be in place in the parade lineup by 4 p.m. when judging begins. Tylertown High School band will march and play in the parade and other bands and marching units have been invited. Prizes are awarded for judged entries, first through third place; Floats are awarded Judge’s Choice and 1st through 3rd place prizes. The parade follows its usual route, south on Tyler Avenue to Ball Avenue, turning west on Magnolia Avenue at the courthouse, then south on Collins and east on Beulah Avenue through downtown before ending at the Stogner Center, Above, seated from left, Melissa Stringer, Cindy Mord, standing, Rob Loper, Thomas Dozier and Taylor Stringer check over Santa’s suit while planning details of the Dec. 3 parade.
