Hilton Dewitt Holmes, 68, of Jayess, died Dec. 31, 2024 at his residence. He was born Jan. 19, 1956, in Tylertown to the late Atley Holmes and Maxine Hatfield Holmes.
A graveside memorial will be held Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025, at 10 AM at Magee’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Jayess, with Rev. David Heddon officiating.
Holmes was a member of Enon Baptist Church. He was well known as the local propane delivery man for Herring Gas Co. for many years until his retirement. During that time, he made many friends by socializing and taking good care of his customers. Holmes enjoyed cooking and visiting with different people in his community.
Survivors include his son, Adam Holmes (Lacey); daughter, Regina Howell (Randy); grandchildren, Addyson Holmes, Tanner O’Quin (Elizabeth), Nate Holmes, Wyatt Howell, Skylar Gilmore, and Saxon Howell; brothers, John Ray Holmes (Judy), Ronnie Holmes (Karen), Jerry Lane Holmes (Willie Mae), and Milton Holmes (Shelia).
